Based in different community hubs throughout Brighton & Hove, Day Opportunities supports candidates to develop work-based skills, confidence, independence and social connections.
How Does It Work?
Previously known as Day Service, Day Opportunities uses a personalised, structured and skills-based approach to support candidates in real-world community settings. It is delivered over 49-weeks, with candidates attending one or more sessions per week, as part of a consistent timetable. This supports routine, continuity, and meaningful engagement.
As an adult social care provision, Day Opportunities is open to anyone who is over the age of 19 with a learning disability and/or autism.
Our Sessions
The North Star
Our flagship pub places candidates in the heart of Brighton, helping our young people build on their skills in a professional and varied environment. It’s also a space for them to break stereotypes and showcase their abilities to the public.
Jubilee Library Café
Candidates gain real-world hospitality experience in our training café within Jubilee Library. Here they receive barista training, build connections, and learn key skills such as money handling and customer service.
Coffee Roastery
From bean to bag, our candidates expertly roast and package Team Domenica’s Speciality Coffee. Our innovative roastery project allows them to grow as individuals, build connections and gain valuable workplace skills.
Enrichment
Our Enrichment sessions utilise team-based activities to build resilience and interpersonal skills. It also fosters opportunities for friendships, and encourages candidates to engage with their community.
Employability Job Club
Taking place in small groups, or as 1-1 mentoring, our job club helps candidates to develop work-related skills such as writing a CV, applying for vacancies, and completing interviews.
Making An Impact
An amazing 86% of our candidates say they feel more confident as a result of our programmes.
On enrichment I do my mentor sessions and I do kickboxing; it’s really good fun. I like helping with coffee too. The skills I’ve learned here are being considerate, tolerant and kind – about myself and others. I feel less lonely and less isolated because I’ve made more friends here than I ever have.
