This is the second stage of a candidate's journey. Here they build on their learning through an extended, unpaid internship with one of our partnered employers.
A Day In The Life Of A Supported Intern
What does a supported internship look like? How are our candidates supported in the workplace?
This video shows Sam’s daily routine during his supported internship with Brighton i360 in 2024. Hear him describe his experiences step by step. Whether it was serving customers, making coffees, or hosting flights in the skies, Sam put the skills he learnt in his first year into action as a Guest Host.
Programme Structure
Supported Internship
Each week, our interns spend approximately 16 hours in the workplace, usually over two to three days. Each internship is chosen based on the candidate’s interests, skills and ambitions.
Support from Job Coaches
To ensure mutual success, each young person is supported by an experienced job coach who works on-site and offers personalised, hands-on support for both the candidate and employer.
Classroom Learning
Candidates spend one day a week completing their Functional Skills qualifications. Our teachers work with the candidate, job coach and employer to ensure that skills gaps are identified and filled.
Work-Based Targets
We hold regular review meetings with the candidate, their mentor, job coach and manager to check in on progress, address any concerns, and set agreed work targets.
76% of candidates are offered paid employment through our Supported Internship Programme
