Getting a job is just the beginning - we provide ongoing, personalised support to help our candidates thrive in the workplace long-term.

Making the World Work

Many young people with learning disabilities and autism need continued support to navigate challenges, stay connected to their community, and maintain the jobs they’ve worked so hard to achieve.

At Team Domenica, we are committed to making employment meaningful and sustainable. When a candidate graduates from our programmes, and moves into paid work, we offer flexible and tailored support to both the candidate and partnered employer. And for those yet to secure employment, we help identify alternative opportunities.

How Do We Support Graduates?

Our in-work support can include:

  • One-to-one employment support (especially during the first year)
  • Help with onboarding, workplace training and understanding contracts
  • Advocacy in the workplace – including HR meetings and career progression conversations
  • Help using work-related apps, booking holiday or managing pay
  • Creating training aids and workplace resources

Our looking for work support can include:

  • Support with CVs, interviews, and career transitions
  • Helping candidates build experience through volunteering
  • Giving advice with looking for alternative opportunities

Making It Happen

25%

of people who complete a supported internship in England are still in employment after a year (FE Week, 2022).

93%

of Team Domenica candidates remain in employment for over a year, thanks to our ongoing support.

69%

of our young people go on to stay in work for over three years, that’s more than two-thirds!

Community is Powerful

An active social life is key to confidence, wellbeing and long-term success at work, and beyond.

We organise social events to help our candidates stay connected and maintain friendships. In doing so we support our young people to have have fun, reconnect, and feel part of the community.

I really appreciate having Wrap Around Support. It feels nice that Team Domenica doesn’t just let us go. I’m confident at work, but I feel more comfortable knowing there’s someone to help if I have a problem. It’s nice that everyone gets together too, even though everyone is busy at their jobs. But once we all get together it is like no-one left.

Support for Employers

Our team works closely with our partnered employer to ensure a candidate’s employment remains successful and sustainable for all.

This includes:

  • Regular check-ins with managers
  • Advice and troubleshooting when challenges arise
  • Support with onboarding and training
  • Creating accessible resources and guidance
  • Helping employers better understand individual candidate needs

Team Domenica’s Post-Internship Manager has helped us incorporate [our candidate] into the mainstream. We can approach her whenever we have any questions or hurdles. She makes the circle is complete; we all know where to go and feel supported.

Oskar's Story

With the help of our training programmes, Oskar secured a job in 2023 as an usher with Theatre Royal Brighton. He loves his job and has even met a few celebrities along the way, including John Bishop and Ian McKellen!

In 2024, Oskar approached our team asking for help finding another role that would utilise his skills and help others in the community. With the support of our Post-Internship Manager, Oskar began working as a volunteer at Scope. He thrived in this role (which he maintained alongside his employment at Theatre Royal) and loved making a difference with his time.
