It’s finally summer and, here at Café Domenica, we’re bringing the sunshine with our delicious range of summer drinks! Whether you enjoy an iced coffee, iced tea or a fresh and fruity smoothie, we’ve got you covered. What’s more, every purchase you make helps bring people together and create futures for people with learning disabilities. As if that wasn’t enough, we also ran a giveaway for two of our scrumptious summer drinks! Read on to find out more…
What is Café Domenica?
Café Domenica is a non-profit café serving fantastically fresh food and drinks to the Brighton & Hove community. As a part of the local charity Team Domenica, our three training cafés showcase the talents and ambitions of the adults we support – aptly named “candidates” to reflect their readiness for employment.
In addition to completing class-based learning and external work placements, our candidates are centrally involved in the running of our cafés. This in-house work experience provides the perfect opportunity for them to learn new skills and build confidence in a real work environment. It also allow us to challenges society’s misconceptions of learning disabilities and creates a space that mirrors the diversity of our Brighton community.
This place has changed my life. It’s given me lots of new friends; it’s given me hope. In the cafés, I’ve been growing my confidence with baking and making drinks on the coffee machine. I feel ready for the future and like I can do anything!
