Great Lengths Launch

June 9, 2023 Posted in: News

Team Domenica launch Brighton & Hove’s first inclusive swimming challenge event… Great Lengths!
Taking place on Sunday 24 September, at the brand new Sea Lanes on Madeira Drive (the UK’s first national open water swimming centre), Great Lengths will bridge the gap between indoor and outdoor swimming. It is an amazing opportunity for anyone with a passion for the sea, or swimming, to challenge themselves and raise money to help our young people reach their full potential.

Our candidates challenge themselves almost every day in their training, so we’re inviting our audience to do the same and join us in fundraising for young people with learning disabilities.

Great Lengths will be aimed at all abilities. Here at Team Domenica, we know that a ‘challenge’ looks different to everyone… getting into the water could be a huge achievement, or swimming five kilometres could feel like a breeze; that’s why it isn’t a competition and participants can choose from a range of distances. But places are limited so you’ll have to act fast to claim yours!

Here are the details…

You can find out more information by visiting the Great Lengths Registration Page or reading our Frequently Asked Questions. However, you can find a few of the most vital details below:

When is Great Lengths?

The event is taking place in two time slots during the afternoon and evening of Sunday September 24th (specific timings to be confirmed).

Where is it take place?

The Sea Lanes, Madeira Drive, Brighton, BN2 1BX

How far do I have to swim?

A challenge is personal to the individual, so participants can choose from the following: ‘Dip your toe’ | 50m | 100m | 400m | 800m |1.5k | 2.5k | 5k

How much do I have to fundraise?

It completely depends on your distance and how much of a challenge it is for you. We can help you set a target and will support you every step of the way – over the years, we’ve consistently seen our supporters not only achieve their goals, but frequently surpass them!

Do I get anything for participating?

To reduce the waste associated with mass participation events, all participants will receive a swim cap and an edible medal upon completing their challenge.
