The impact of Team Domenica's programmes is best seen through the eyes of our candidates, their families and our employer partners…

Team Domenica candidate Olly at his graduations ceremony.

Olly joined Team Domenica feeling both nervous and excited about what lay ahead. Like many young people, he knew that he wanted to a job, he didn’t know where to start. With our support, Olly built the confidence and experience he needed to find paid work and thrive.

Without Team Domenica’s support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m really proud of myself and my job.

In his first year, Olly built foundational workplace skills in our classroom, training cafés and through our community partnerships. He learned how to manage changes in routine, work as part of a team, and build confidence in a real workplace environments like Hobbycraft, The Grand Hotel, and Jubilee Library.

I felt nervous but also excited about starting at Team Domenica. During the summer, I learnt the bus routes, which made me feel better. As I went through the programme, I became more confident. Working in the café really helps in my job now.

Olly completed his supported internship at the Maldron Hotel Brighton, where he quickly became a valued part of the team. Working in the restaurant, he prepared and cleared tables, restocked supplies, and ensured guests felt welcome. His warm personality and dedication didn’t go unnoticed.

Having Olly with us has been incredibly rewarding. He’s grown in confidence and become a valued part of the team. The support from Team Domenica means he’s never on his own when learning something new, and it helps us as an employer feel confident in how we support him too. It’s been a genuinely positive experience for everyone involved.

In the summer of 2025, Olly was offered paid work as a Food & Beverage Assistant at the hotel. But his Team Domenica journey didn’t end when he graduated. Our Wrap Around Programme provides Olly and his manager with tailored guidance to help their partnership succeed long-term. Whether it’s navigating new responsibilities, managing workplace changes, or understanding his rota and contract –  we are there to help.

The support I’ve had from WRAP has been really helpful. I get weekly check-ins with my mentor, who helps me with things I find difficult at work. They also work with my managers to support me. Without this, I would feel stressed.

A paid job is important to me because it gives me a place in the world and helps me save for things I want to do in the future.
