Job Description
Team Domenica is a Brighton-based, social enterprise charity helping people with learning disabilities find and retain paid work. As Assistant General Manager, you will support the General Manager in the leadership and smooth running of our pub. You will be work alongside the General Manager driving operational excellence, ensuring outstanding guest experiences, and motivating a team to uphold the brand standards that define a premium establishment. Our gastro pub will be unique as it will not only serve exceptional seasonal dishes, and a curated selection of local ales and fine wines, but will also be a training site during the day for our young people with learning difficulties, ‘Candidates’, supported by the Training Mentors.

CONTRACT: Permanent, full-time
SALARY: £35-40,000 depending on experience
LINE MANAGER: General Manager
LINE REPORTS: Front of House Staff

Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the General Manager in all aspects of pub operations
- Lead and motivate the front-of-house team, ensuring consistently high service standards
- Oversee daily floor operations, bar service, and customer interaction
- Manage rotas, recruitment, onboarding and staff training
- Assist with financial targets, including sales growth, labour costs and stock control
- Monitor and maintain compliance with licensing, health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Promote high quality food, drink and guest experience
- Drive marketing initiatives, events and local community engagement
- Deputise for the General Manager in their absence, taking full responsibility for the venue
- Contribute ideas to improve service, atmosphere and business performance

Requirements
Experience
- Proven experience as an Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager or Duty Manager in a premium pub, gastropub, or similar high-end hospitality venue (essential)
- Good understanding of licensing, food safety, and health regulations (essential)
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen (Budgets, KPI’s) (essential)
- Passionate about food, drink, and creating memorable customer experiences (essential)
Qualifications
- Personal Licence holder (desirable)
- Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certification (desirable)
- First Aid at Work (preferred)
