Ella's Story

Ella is a hard working young woman, with a great sense of humour and a beaming smile. In the past, however, she lacked the confidence to show people what she can really do. At Team Domenica, we gave her the space, time and training to believe in herself and find her voice. We nurtured her talent and helped her build the skills she needed to thrive in the workplace, and beyond.

In her first year with us, Ella completed our Supported Employment Programme. During this time she built her confidence in our training cafés and classroom, as well as at enrichment and on her three, six-week work placements. As Ella’s self-esteem grew, she felt comfortable to fully express herself. She revealed her hilarious personality and made close friends with her peers.

I felt happy to be at Team Domenica. I used to find it hard to speak to everyone but Team Domenica helped me. I enjoyed seeing my friends and doing all the work.

Ella’s supported internship took place with the catering company, Sodexo Live!, at the Amex Stadium in Brighton. She was initially nervous about meeting new members of staff. But, with the support of her Job Coach (Julie), she was able to put the skills she had learnt the previous year into practice.

Ella quickly established herself as a hardworking and reliable employee. She was always willing to help and eager to learn, and her infectious sense of humour continued to shine through.

When Ella first started her internship, she was quite shy and quiet. But her confidence really grew as she developed her skill set. She built excellent relationships with the team at Sodexo; they really appreciated her hard working attitude, great sense of humour and friendly smile.

Over time, Julie faded out her support and, in 2023, Ella was offered a paid position within the Sodexo Live! team. Today, she has taken on even more responsibilities, from prepping different dishes in the kitchen, to laying up tables in multiple rooms. She has truly blossomed in the workplace and continues to make her team laugh on each and every shift.

Ella’s come a long way since joining our team. Her confidence has really grown and Julie (her Job Coach) was amazing at supporting our journey. Over a year later, Ella is such an asset to our team. She’s so quick at picking things up and a real pleasure to be around.
