Job Description

As Marketing and Communications Manager, you will lead the planning and delivery of marketing across Team Domenica and The North Star pub, ensuring activity supports income generation, employer partnerships, candidate recruitment and customer engagement.

You will shape clear, confident and consistent communications that reflect our brand and values, using storytelling to celebrate our candidates and demonstrate the impact of our work. Working across education, employment and enterprise, you will deliver integrated campaigns that build awareness, shift perceptions and drive meaningful action.

You will oversee content creation across digital and print, manage external suppliers and media relationships, and use data and insight to evaluate performance and continuously improve activity.

Working closely with the Interim Head of Marketing and Communications and colleagues across the organisation, you will align activity, strengthen our brand and ensure a joined-up approach. You will also line manage the Fundraising and Marketing Executive, supporting their development and working closely with the Fundraising Manager to maximise impact and income.

This role will be based predominantly at 2-3 Pavilion Buildings, Brighton. Depending on their roles, our staff can be required to work in a range of different sites, including our main training centre, enrichment site, training cafés and employer’s premises.

CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent, 40 hours per week – All year round
SALARY: £34,000-38,000 DOE

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Shape and deliver the annual marketing and communications strategy across Team Domenica and The North Star, aligning activity with organisational goals and growth.
  • Lead all marketing and communications activity across digital, print, social, email and press, ensuring it is clear, consistent and high quality.
  • Develop compelling, on-brand messaging that builds awareness, shifts perceptions and drives action across key audiences.
  • Own audience strategy and segmentation, tailoring communications to donors, employers, customers, candidates and partners.
  • Plan and deliver integrated campaigns that support fundraising, employer partnerships, customer footfall and candidate recruitment.
  • Lead content creation across written, photo and video, ensuring storytelling reflects the achievements and experiences of our candidates and employer partners.
  • Manage and develop digital channels, including websites, email marketing and social media, optimising performance through data and insight.
  • Use analytics and reporting to measure impact, inform decisions and continuously improve activity.
  • Lead PR and media activity, building relationships and securing coverage that raises profile and influence.
  • Act as brand guardian, maintaining and evolving a clear, confident and welcoming tone of voice across all communications.
  • Manage the marketing and communications budget, external suppliers and partnerships to deliver effective and efficient outcomes.
  • Line manage and support the Fundraising and Marketing Executive, working closely with the Fundraising Manager to align activity and drive income.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong experience in a marketing and communications role, with a track record of delivering campaigns that drive engagement and results.
  • Ability to plan and deliver integrated marketing across digital, print, social, email and press.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, confident and engaging content.
  • Strong storytelling ability, with experience bringing impact to life in a way that inspires action.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities and budgets, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using data and insight to measure ROI, evaluate performance and inform decisions, including experience with analytics tools such as GA4.
  • Experience managing websites and digital channels, with an understanding of user journeys and content optimisation.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including colleagues, partners, suppliers and media.
  • Experience managing external suppliers such as designers, photographers or agencies.
  • Understanding of brand management, with the ability to maintain and develop a consistent tone of voice.
  • Experience of line management or supporting colleagues to develop and succeed.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt and respond to changing priorities.
  • Experience supporting fundraising campaigns or income generation activity.
  • Knowledge of PR and media relations.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Confident use of website CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress), including updating content and managing user journeys.
  • Strong experience with email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp or similar), including building campaigns, segmentation and performance tracking.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook), including content planning, scheduling and analytics.
  • Experience using analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics GA4) to measure performance and generate actionable insights.
  • Ability to create or brief high-quality content using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of SEO and content optimisation.
  • Experience with CRM systems to support audience targeting and communications.
  • Basic knowledge of paid digital campaigns (social and search).

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree (or equivalent professional qualification or experience) in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
