Job Description

Team Domenica is looking for a talented person with imagination, initiative, an excellent eye for detail, and strong organisational skills. Applicants must enjoy working in a customer facing role, be passionate about quality, local food, brilliant coffee, excellent customer service and be able to confidently manage a team of Café Staff, Training Mentors and candidates, who are our young people with learning disabilities at Team Domenica.

All applicants must have management experience in a busy cafe/food environment, with strong barista skills preferred. We are a local café and you need to be able to create a professional training environment for our candidates, provide seamless service and meet the demands of the business.

Contract Details

CONTRACT: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
SALARY: £28,000- £29,500 depending on experience
ANNUAL LEAVE: 25 days holiday per annum plus 8 English bank and public holidays
LINE MANAGER: Head of Hospitality
LINE REPORTS: Deputy Café Manager and Café Staff

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee daily operations of the cafe, ensuring a smooth and efficient service, with high quality standards for food and beverages at all times.
  • Oversee food preparation and ensure dishes are prepared consistently, meeting the ‘Well Standards’ of the Plus X operation.
  • Work with Head of Hospitality to deliver fresh, varied and seasonal menus to an excellent standard, cost menu’s effectively and ensure agreed profit margins.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a small team, allocate jobs each day and foster a positive and customer-focused environment.
  • Manage stock levels, supplier orders, and inventory control to ensure availability of menu items.
  • Take responsibility for the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning rota for the kitchen and café and upkeep the food safety (SFBB) diary daily, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Be responsible for the health and safety requirements of the café and ensure equipment is suitably maintained.
  • Provide monthly performance data analysis, identifying areas for improvement and planned solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with other Café Managers to plan and execute sales, events and promotions. Attend team meetings and work towards the development of the café enterprise including working with our marketing team to deliver promotional activities.
  • Lead the training and development of new and existing team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver great customer experience and candidate training.
  • Oversee and carry out training session with candidates, helping them gain independence and confidence in a work environment. Be an ambassador for their training and work openly with education staff.
  • Keep candidates safe and adhere to our Safeguarding Policy.

Requirements

Experience

  • A minimum 2 years Café/ Restaurant management experience, gained in a high volume fresh food hospitality setting.
  • Experience of working in a commercial kitchen, preferably you will have at least three years’ experience of food preparation.
  • Barista skills and knowledge of specialty coffee.
  • Experience of or a desire to work with adults with learning disabilities.

 

Personal Specification

  • Proven interpersonal skills – able to develop good work relationships, enjoy working with and training people at all ability levels.
  • Adaptable to changing situations, willing to meet the demands of the company and across our café sites if required.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • A working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
