Who are you swimming for?
At Team Domenica, we help young people with learning disabilities access meaningful employment and feel included as valued members of society. In England, just 4.8% of people with learning disabilities are in work (NHS Digital 2022). But, with the support of our personalised employment programmes and community partnerships, 80% of our candidates have found paid employment since opening in 2016.

Florence Story
Team Domenica candidate Florence went to Great Lengths wither her mum in 2023, raising over £1,500 for her peers with learning disabilities. This wasn’t Florence first dip in the water. In fact, she used to be the female captain of Down Syndrome Swimming GB! Outside of swimming, Florence also has a blooming employment career, holding down not one but THREE jobs! When asked about her time at Team Domenica she says…
“Team Domenica has been an inspiration for me. They make me happy. Before I came here I didn’t have all my hospitality skills but [they] helped me find myself and the skills I need. I put what I learn into practice at work and my mangers have noticed my improvements. They say I’m doing super well. And I am!”
Feel Good and Challenge Yourself!
Great Lengths is a place for swimmers of all abilities to challenge themselves and feel proud of their achievements! We’ve seen novices and swimming pros jump in the pool and swim their way to success…
The day was great and perfectly organised. I wasn’t sure I was up to it, to be frank, but the encouragement of the Team Domenica staff and volunteers bolstered me on. The organisation has been SO important in my son Oskar’s life – helping train him and get a job – and I can’t repay them enough, so raising some money by doing a challenging swim was the least we could do!
