COVID-19 update

ONGOING TRAINING AND SUPPORT
COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact on the lives of our candidates and on Team Domenica. We are proud of the flexibility, determination and resilience we have shown.

In true Team Domenica style, we have overcome the obstacles and come out stronger. We have continued to provide a programme of education, training and support to our candidates at a time when they needed it most.

Back to Face-to-face provision
Throughout lockdowns, Team Domenica provided a successful full-time equivalent online programme. This programme kept our community together, provided education and training and supported our young people and their families. We have now moved back to face-to-face provision and were are maintaining social distancing measures and regular testing.

“Thank you for all your amazing support with Polly. She gets so
much from the online sessions. It really is a lifeline for her!”

Andrea, mother of Team Domenica candidate, Polly

A RETURN TO THE CLASSROOM
Candidates are now back in the classroom working towards their accredited employment qualification, learning key skills such as numeracy, money-handling and communication to serve as a foundation for future learning.

ENRICHMENT

Our candidates have returned to their enrichment activities, now held at All Saints Church in Hove. Sessions are currently run by our Training Mentors and include drama, yoga, and mindfulness – all aimed at building self-confidence, resilience, teamwork, and other transferrable skills. We have started re-joining our community partners for in-person enrichment, increasing the range of activities our candidates can benefit from.

“I didn’t mind doing online work but it really felt good being able to go out
and meet everyone in person… it makes a big difference to my mental health.”
Team Domenica candidate Asa
